HERMES 2022: SAQ to Take Over Certification from 2027
From 1 January 2027, SAQ (Swiss Association for Quality) will take over responsibility for the HERMES 2022 Project Management certification process, introducing several important changes for candidates and training providers.
SAQ will be responsible for the entire certification process, including registration, examinations, certification, recertification and appeals. SPOL AG will continue to act as a technical partner, supporting activities such as exam development, registration support and quality assurance. However, as of 1 January 2027, SPOL AG will no longer be permitted to offer HERMES 2022 training courses.
A More Flexible Certification Process
The new system introduced by SAQ aims to provide candidates with greater flexibility. Exams will be available online and remotely, allowing candidates to choose their preferred date and time through a service operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In-person examinations will also be available upon request.
Access to examinations will be provided through vouchers, which training providers can purchase directly from SAQ. Individual candidates will also be able to purchase vouchers through the SAQ online shop. Vouchers will be valid for one year from the date of issue.
Other key changes include:
- Examinations available in Italian, expanding language options for candidates.
- Flexible exam scheduling, with no predefined examination slots.
- Blockchain-based certificates, allowing authenticity and validity to be verified at any time.
- Separate sessions for the Advanced examination, with each part requiring an individual booking.
What Does This Mean for Candidates?
The new arrangements are designed to make the certification process more flexible and accessible, enabling candidates to schedule their examinations according to their individual needs.
Anyone planning to obtain a HERMES 2022 certification should familiarise themselves with the updated registration procedures and examination arrangements, which will come into effect in 2027.
